Tithing on Trial

Tithing on Trial

I’m going to start writing a series of posts to address common arguments used to promote tithing. These arguments have been listed on the 60+ tithing arguments debunked page, but it is not in a format where i can really go into detail. These series of posts are going to be called “Tithing on Trial” series. As i hear arguments used to promote tithing in the Church, i will address them in this series. On the side menu you can see a link under the categories for ‘Arguments’. If you click it in the future, you will see a comprehensive list of posts that address each and every argument to promote tithing.

Here are a few of the pro tithing arguments

  • Jesus commanded tithing
  • God owns everything
  • The church is the storehouse
  • Tithing began before the Law
  • Jesus didn’t abolish the Law
  • God wants the first and the best
  • How is the Church supported without tithing?

Why do we need to argue about this tithing? Just give what your heart really wants.

They won’t let us give as we decide in our own hearts.

What these grace robbers are doing is throwing us back under legalism and bondage of never feeling approved by God, which we are based on the payment in full made for us by Jesus on his cross.

After reading my entire Bible word for word I found the rationale for their justification for tithing myself.

Jesus did command tithing but to Jews under the law in Matthew 23:23 he was not speaking to one redeemed Christian after he said Paid in full.

God does own everything but he and his Son freely gives us all things Romans 8:32

I meant to say I found their justification for the tithe mandate is bogus but will continue because it pays their salaries!

Grace robbers are too bi-polar. They stop short of Jesus words that he did not come to abolish the law but to fulfill and accomplish it. Only someone sinless could fulfill the law. If Jesus did not come to abolish the law then why don’t these tithe robots keep all the Leviticus laws to date?

Tithing was before the law well so was polygamy and having a son by your slave concubine, should we do that too because it was before the Law? That rationale is the silliest of all!

How can we support the church without mandating the tithe law?
Duh…let the Holy Spirit lead and guide us to give from our heart as we decide!
