Served on the Board of Colored Missions for the Evangelical Lutheran Synodical Conference of North America. He then served as president of the German Evangelical Lutheran Synod of Missouri, Ohio, and Other States.
We do not obligate New Testament Christians to pay the tithe, since, as we rightly contend, this would go counter to Scripture. In the Old Testament indeed it was God’s will and order that the tithe should be given by every Israelite; but this divine command is not binding upon New Testament believers.
